Vancouver (more to come!)

Check out Vancouver’s craft breweries and distilleries. Vancouver is undergoing a boom in craft brewing and distilling. Have a drink at some of the new hot spots around Main Street and Olympic Village including Brassneck, 33 Acres, Craft Beer Market, Liberty Distillery and Vancouver Urban Winery. Or, do a tour with Vancouver Brewery Tours.

Hike the Grouse Grind to the top of Grouse Mountain. This famously grueling Vancouver hike is 1 hour straight up but rewards you with Vancouver’s best view and a great patio for drinking cold beer. Bonus: at the top of Grouse you can see real live grizzly bears and lumberjacks. If you don’t want to hike, you can take the gondola up. Grouse has a free shuttle that will get you from downtown Vancouver to the base in about 20 minutes.

If you want to be embraced by nature and aren’t afraid of heights, make sure you visit Capilano Suspension Bridge.

Want some culture?  Take some time for theatre al fresco with Bard on the Beach if you like Shakespeare or Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) if musicals are more your style.  Productions run all summer long.

Go on a helicopter or float plane “flightseeing” tour over Vancouver.

Beyond

Catch the train to Seattle (3 hours) for a major league baseball game and shopping. The Seattle Mariners play all summer and the train stops within sight of Safeco Field.  Don’t forget your passport as you are crossing the US border!

Do an Alaskan cruise. Ships depart from Vancouver weekly.

STAY TUNED for more suggestions and links to make your trip more than worthwhile!  In the meantime, find more ideas from Tourism Vancouver or Destination BC.
